On Friday morning, members from the Rome Health Twigs joined Rome Health’s Residential Health Care Facility (RHCF) staff and residents to unveil the installation of a new TV in the activities room of which was donated by the Twigs.
The TV was donated in remembrance of Ginny Rabe, a long-time member of the Rome Twigs and Carol Rood who was a past president of the twigs. A small plaque was created to be placed by the TV in their names. “We bought this TV in their honor because we were informed by the staff at RHCF that there was a need for one for the residents in the activity room.” said Ming Twig member Rita Reilley.
Rome Health’s Residential Health Care Facility offers compassionate medical care in a setting that can be made to feel as close to home as possible. RHCF also provides short-term rehabilitation and respite care. With attractive, comfortable rooms that residents can make their own, the Residential Health Care Facility is a hospital-based, full-service 80-bed skilled nursing facility.
Lucille Wick, a resident at RHCF, says having the TV added to the activity room is a nice addition; “It will be nice for everyone to see the sports they enjoy on the TV. I’m sure in the future, we’ll be coming here to watch movies and use it for other activities all year long.”
“We just want to thank the Twigs for their generous donation of the TV to our residents. This will be very beneficial to them for times when they would like to get together to watch a movie with each other or when family comes to visit.” Megan Absolom, Director of Activities with RHCF claimed.
Trudy Guza, who joined the Twigs a few years ago explains how it always feels good to volunteer and give back to the community. “It’s nice to know that we were able to do something for the hospital and its residents here in RHCF. That is what being a Twig is all about, raising money to help the hospital however we can.”
The Twig organization is always looking for new members to join and volunteer and help with their fundraising efforts. Some of the fund-raisers include the annual Tree of Lights, selling poinsettias and managing the hospital gift shop.
