    New GI practice at Medical Center

    Rome Health will be establishing a gastroenterology practice at the Medical Center on the main campus of the hospital in early spring. The hospital has recruited two board certified gastroenterologists Aamer Mirza, M.D., and W. Asher Wolf, M.D. and an experienced G.I. nurse practitioner Melissa Kobito, FNP, to Rome.  Dr. Mirza and Kobito are expected to begin seeing patients in late March/early April.  Dr. Wolf is expected to join them in the summer.

  • Rome Health earns Primary Stroke Center designation

    Rome Health has achieved designation by New York State as a primary stroke center and has been incorporated into the regional stroke emergency medical system of care. Following an onsite survey in December, the hospital achieved primary stroke certification through the Accreditation Commission for Health Care (ACHC). As a primary stroke center, the hospital is capable of treating acute ischemic stroke with IV thrombolytics and supportive care.  About 87% of strokes are ischemic strokes caused by a blockage that decreases blood flow to the brain.

    Patricia Flihan, FNP joins Rome Health - Camden Family Practice

    Rome Health is excited to announce the hiring of Patricia Flihan, FNP-C at the Rome Health - Camden Family Care office. “I’m excited to be starting in Camden. I grew up here and the town is filled with my old teachers, classmates, and colleagues.” Flihan said. “The best part about being back in Camden is I am now able to give back to all people who helped me growing up.” Flihan graduated from Utica College in 2016 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. She then went on to SUNY POLY where she earned her Masters in Nursing with Family Nurse Practitioner concentration.
