Construction Updates for Surgical Services and ICU

Welcome to the construction page for the new Center for Intensive Care and Kaplan Center for Surgical Services. The $45.7 million capital project will enhance the experience for patients and their families while supporting the care team in delivering the best care out there here. The project involves constructing a 30,000 square-foot, three-floor addition on the north side of the hospital, which will allow the hospital to replace its aging operating rooms and intensive care units. The project will be completed in three phases with an anticipated completion in summer 2026.

he summer has flown by and a great deal of progress has been made on the Kaplan Center for Surgical Services and the Intensive Care Unit at Rome Health. What was once just a shell has progressed into a structure that is really starting to take shape.

Rome Health prepares to reroute Emergency Department traffic

The traffic circle at the Emergency Department entrance will be taken out of service until November for contractors to complete grading and site work for the new addition for the Intensive Care Unit and the Kaplan Center for Surgical Services.

Rome Health Kaplan Center for Surgical Services July 2024 Update

Construction continues on the new Kaplan Center for Surgical Services at Rome Health. The concrete floor have been poured for both the 1st and 2nd floors of the center. The basement level of the center is having concrete being poured now and should be completed very soon. Stairs have been installed but are not accessible at this time.

Rome Health Ceremonial Topping Out

On May 29th, Rome Health held a ceremonial topping out of its new Intensive Care Unit and Kaplan Center for Surgical Services. In late April of this year, our construction partner, The Hayner Hoyt Company, delivered a 9-foot white beam to Rome Health. It was placed in the first-floor lobby and staff was invited to sign and leave personal messages on the beam. The response was overwhelming, with the beam quickly filling up with signatures and heartfelt messages, it was necessary to turn it over to allow more staff the opportunity to sign the beam.
