Rome Health is pleased to announce the expansion of its gastroenterology services with the addition of board-certified gastroenterologist, Dr. W. Asher Wolf, M.D., to Rome Health Gastroenterology. He will begin seeing patients after Memorial Day.

Dr. Wolf has 14 years of experience in gastroenterology with specialized expertise in advanced endoscopy procedures, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS) with fine needle sampling, to diagnose and treat diseases of the gastrointestinal tract.  With his addition, Rome Health will offer weekend appointments for colonoscopies, providing greater accessibility and convenience for patients.

Gastroenterologists specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of digestive and liver diseases.  They are specially trained to perform endoscopy to visualize the inside of the digestive tract and perform advance endoscopic procedures to stop bleeding, remove polyps and stretch narrowed areas of the esophagus or intestine.

Dr. Wolf earned his medical degree from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill where he also completed his residency in internal medicine and his fellowship in gastroenterology.  For the last five years, he has been practicing in Grand Forks, N.D., where he established himself as a trusted and skilled practitioner.

“At Rome Health, we are continuously building relationships with new physicians with specialized expertise to expand access to the best care out there, here,” said Chief Medical Officer Cristian Andrade, MD.  “Creating more capacity and greater access is pivotal to prevent delays in care and achieve the best outcomes for our patients.”

Dr. Wolf joins Dr. Aamer Mirza, M.D., and G.I. nurse practitioner Melissa Kobito, FNP, at Rome Health Gastroenterology, located on the upper level of the Medical Center on the main campus of Rome Health. Parking is conveniently located off of Oak Street.  Enter through the Bartlett Entrance when coming for a visit.   Appointments may be made by calling 315.338.7040.
